Task Accomplished?

Having a hard time in prioritizing things, and on how to organize and execute each of them? This is a common problem of every people living day by day. To be specific, college students hailed on this dilemma. The inability to prioritize things, and lack of discipline to execute tasks are the common reasons in achieving failures when it comes to accomplishing tasks. What may be a possible solution to prevent this problem among students? The prevention is to manage time or simply Time Management, wherein planning over specific activities and tasks will be monitor.

Managing time will help you prioritize things that are important but non-urgent. Nowadays, people only look for the urgency of things but not on its importance. That’s the reason why the result of a task becomes a failure or worse. This situation also keeps people in a hurry and pressure. Setting up goals through planning, allocating and monitoring time due to specific area of activities will increase the efficiency and productivity of every task. There are methods to comply for achieving a well-balanced lifestyle. It will start on each of us, as an individual who takes daily activities by simply implementing the time management on oneself.

How will a student adapt the management of time? Actually, it will be easy for students accomplishing task one at a time, by putting important and non-urgent matters, first.

One way of being a successful person is to learn how to manage time effectively. It will reduce the risk of failing (especially for students). Time Management is a necessity and seeks to be exercised by each individual in order to attain a stress-free environment. The skills and techniques will be develop and improve while controlling and staying in the management of time. The range of activities will definitely benefit oneself.

After graduation, I am planning to seek for a job that will be totally fits on my skills, in order to provide my family, their necessities. And in return, to the people who helped me to achieve a high quality education, to Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon, I will help other people especially the poor ones.

International Thanksgiving

A glorious morning arrives as my feet lead me inside the ADD Convention Center. I walked through the pavements, carrying a heavy and bulgy bag filled with things needed for a three day thanksgiving.
The ADD Convention Center was crowded by people who willingly offered a thanksgiving unto God. Being grateful for everything positively whether those are for blessings, hindrances, struggles and dilemma.
The International thanksgiving (Pasalamat ng Katawan or PNK) of the Members of Church of God International (MCGI) has become a tradition. It’s a three day celebration of being grateful.
God’s word and other Biblical Facts was converged and interpreted by the MCGI’s presiding minister, Bro. Eliseo Soriano, with his apprentice, the second presiding minister, Bro. Daniel Razon. The truth that is beyond the learning interpretations of other religious affiliations, unleashed. The spontaneous break down of Biblical based information that public craved for eventually diffused. And only Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon can do that. They dig deeply to a more profound, understanding, on the bible by which others ignored.
According to Bro. Eli Soriano, the misconceptions on the Bible and on the wisdom of God rooted from falsifying translations. Various religions have deeply penetrated publics concerned, to gain members and to share their beliefs which noticeably wrong.
The true Church of God patiently offers thanksgiving. Unlike others, whom are really afraid in a one hour mass.
Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon open the mind of their brethren, on the wisdom that is based on the truth. They supplement their brethren a food for their souls—wisdom of God.

Invading the Streets: We Take a Walk

Many take the route, often finding something better for them at the end of the road. Second year Mass Communication students (2B), conquered the streets of the Metro and captured the spontaneous ambiance of the real world.
The photo walk was organized by the basic photography instructor, Director Dominic Meily, with the help of his colleagues-Photoville members.  The entire class was divided into groups which are headed by the Photoville members, who voluntarily lend off their D-SLR cameras unto students. At exactly 9:00 am, photo walk officially starts, and each group is looking forward for a more captivating and interesting events on streets. The crazy, quirky and wild creativity of one’s beholder will make better and cool shots, one click will lead them to best photograph, captured by their own.
Each of us has a purpose that needs to be unleashed. My purpose is to capture and to witness momentous events in the bustling city of Manila. We indulged ourselves in capturing events, infrastructure and most especially the daily lives of people on the streets. We have to capture candid events of different people with different lives.
Our group is headed by Mr. Rodel Lumiares, a photoville member, is composed of six members, Iralyn, Daisy, Grezel, Loreto, Nathan and I. Mr Rodel of photoville gave us suggestions on how a simple photograph will have a touch of creativity. He willingly gave opportunity on each of us to take spectacular photographs. Capturing the perfect moment is the first priority.
A picture of typical street setting inspires us a lot, as we hear it from the experts, Mr Dominic Meily, a certified street photography hobbyist.
As we walked to through the pavements, we meet friends from Canada, wandering in the historical place of Manila, a family of whites who are really awesome. They evidently love our country and it reflects on the mother of a happy family, as her name is Philippine. Those people are easy going.
No wonder that our country really gains popularization and immense global appeal towards other countries. Races doesn't really matter, either the complexion is black, brown or white, because even tourist can’t resist to say that “It’s more fun in the Philippines”.
All day long, the weather is windy, as all of us felt our hairs slapping on our faces. The wave showered men who’ll pass nearby the bay.

At the end of the day, I felt wearied and exhausted for a long walk, yet it’s a fun learning experience that I will treasure. The satisfaction on every piece of images that I captured is an achievement. Truly, the best professor is experience.

UNTV caught an award at Gandingan

Gandingan, a brain child of the UP Community Broadcasters’ Society (UPBroadSoc) have its 7thUPLB Isko’t Iska’s Broadcast Choice Awards. ‘It is the first broadcast-based award-giving body of the entire UP system’. Fortunately, UNTV caught an award. The “Bread n’Butter” was awarded as the Best Livelihood-Oriented Program and the “Blood-Letting”of UNTV Radio La Verdad 1350 had made it to be the Best Development-Oriented Plug.

The main function of the Gandingan is to ‘recognize outstanding broadcasters, programs and materials as well as ‘challenging the media stations in producing quality content.
Various stations have dominated the entire country, yet UNTV vigorously able to compete with the cultural flow of media and have its immense public appeal.
The sudden rise in popularity of UNTV originates from its features. The public service channel that is not blind and deaf on people’s dilemma. It only aims to help the needy. “Ang paggawa ng mabuti ay hindi magbubunga ng masama”, a quotation from veteran broadcast journalist Bro. Daniel Razon, also known as ‘kuya’, is one of the pioneers of the said station. A welfare-looking big brother had launched several public service-oriented projects. Those projects focus on helping the less fortunate. Thus, the community development works and public service outreaches are also extended to the programs produced by the public service channel UNTV37.

Both awards encompassed ‘the recognition of excellence in the four guiding principles of development communication: empowerment, equity, entrepreneurship, and environmentalism. Bread n’ Butter manifests entrepreneurship while Blood-Letting inhibits empowerment.
It has now captivated audiences from various parts of archipelago and of the globe. Compared with other programs or stations, UNTV has its own unique interpretation on ‘public service’. They truly emphasized public service proceeded by the application of oriented projects designed to help the needy. It can be considered as the pioneered in the evolving welfare and one of the main reasons why the culture of public service spread throughout the country.
The obsession of other students in various programs helped them vote effectively. Gandingan awards would not be possible without the vote of UPLB students, who scrutinizes the media content.

One of the hosts of the Bread n’ Butter, Mr. Rodel Flordeliz, thanked the students of UPLB for voting and supporting the program. However, the voting process had proven transparency. On the other hand the station manager of UNTV radio La Verdad 1350, Ms. Annie Rentoy also thanked the students likewise.

UNTV Radio La Verdad 1350 , the radio broadcasting arm of the Philippine Television UNTV, brought back the glory of radio in the mainstream and became possible with the help of kuya Daniel. May the programs launched and produced by UNTV invites rapid enrichment in order to offer more relevant public service oriented projects, in God’s will.

Congratulations UNTV. J

Opportunity knocks only once

Heading off to college is an essential milestone in your life that requires serious effort to think, learn, and grow. It is an exciting and challenging experience that every student craved for. After high school several pre-requisites are needed to successfully enter in college. It takes time, money, and effort. Unfortunately, only people with good and stable employment can afford to supplement their children on tertiary education. Poverty often sees as hindrance and barrier towards better education. The only way for the less fortunate to get into college is to acquire scholarship grant and become a scholar.

A scholar is a student with intelligence and excellence, a student with competitiveness, who deals with lots of commitments, a student with great learning skills that is evidently a quick learner and a role model and a pride of the campus.

I am a scholar hitting the edge towards success, having a goal to pursue and aspiring to become successful in my career. I am a scholar, not of a state university that wraps and hid its purpose, where money circulates, but of La Verdad Christian College-Caloocan. A school who believed that “wisdom based on truth is priceless”.

Different universities and colleges popped out of the blue, offering scholarships and assuring students of low-cost fees but were not. That’s the reason why scholars or ‘iskolar ng bayan’ rebel against the government. Tuition hikes urge the students to arouse anger. Obviously, they have no choice but to accept the fact that even scholars pay for fees. It is not really easy to become a scholar, as you will deal with lots of stress, crisis and study commitments. But as you've accepted it, you have to take care of it. It is a responsibility that will benefit you.

However LVCC is very different from all of the universities and colleges in our country. It is the only school that offers free to all premises: In tuition, miscellaneous, school uniform, meals and even allowance. There is nothing to bother.

Scholars are fortunate as they make a difference, from nobody to somebody. As we get older, things get harder, once the opportunity knocked you, grab it, to avoid regrets.

I am now a second year student of Mass Communication Technology, and planning to continue my course to AB Broadcasting if God’s will. I am very fortunate to become one of the scholars at LVCC, it is a great privilege and I don’t want to lose it. For Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon, the men who both make a difference among the entire population of the Philippines, thank you, for offering scholarships. Most of all, to God, thank You, in making me blessed and in making this world wonderful.

Non-government organizations (NGOs) were now banned from having access to pork barrel funds, as the House of Representatives made a decision that it (pork barrel) would rather distribute among state agencies.

According to Eastern Samar Rep. Ben Evardone, there would be no NGO participation because of the pork barrel scam. The total amount of Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) would be distributed among executive agencies that will have the control and discretion over the funds. Presumably, the Department of Health (DOH) for medical assistance, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for college scholarship, and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for select infrastructure projects.

However the rendered decisions are all designed to reduce or eliminate opportunities for corruption. The reforms on pork barrel fund system will be transparent.

It all rooted from the anomalous transactions involving the congressional pork barrel, of alleged mastermind Janet Lim Napoles. The P10B pork barrel allocations of certain lawmakers were misused by the fraud NGOs, identified with Napoles. As a result, legitimate NGOs are strongly affected on the issue.

Meanwhile, Napoles is now on her sixth day of detention, not for pork barrel but for serious illegal detention case filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) based on the complaints of Benhur Luy as her victim, at Fort Sto. Domingo in Laguna, where she was transferred from Makati City Jail, following her controversial surrender to President Benigno Aquino III last August 28 at MalacaƱang Palace.
